We are just back from having spent Labor Day weekend with my parents in Seattle. We had grand plans to visit Mt. Rainier and a wonderful place called the Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island, but rain forced us to make alternate plans (quite unusual for early September in Seattle, despite the stereotypes of Seattle always being rainy). We instead ended up with a kind of Asian-themed weekend--the Wing Luke Museum (which tells the story of Asian immigrants in Seattle), Uwajimaya (the Asian mega supermarket), Thai food, Japanese food, and Seattle's beautiful Japanese Garden.

We also fit in a trip to Third Place Books, our favorite Seattle bookstore, Swanson's Nursery, and Golden Gardens, where Koda enjoyed playing with local canines at a dog park and we humans enjoyed a stroll along Puget Sound.

Recounting it here, it sounds like a busy weekend, but actually it was rather leisurely and quite enjoyable, despite not being what we had planned.
