Pleasant weekend

Mike is up in Portland all weekend for class and I was expecting a very quiet weekend at home with no car and no laptop and no plans to speak of. But then Jess called yesterday to see if I would be interested in hiking Marys Peak with them and suddenly my weekend plans were looking much livelier. We enjoyed the "medium" length hike (2.2 miles) of the three hikes available at Marys Peak, and it was just perfect for a rather leisurely afternoon. While it was a hot day in the valley, it was quite pleasant at the higher elevations.

Other than that, Koda and I have been kept somewhat busy looking after Abby, a mischievous kitten who belongs to Mike's work and needs to be looked after on weekends. She is keeping me busy with her crazy antics and is driving Koda a little crazy, but we are both entertained. Here she is on her favorite new perch, a twin mattress standing on its end (she is definitely enjoying the benefits of having claws and being light). Notice the lovely wallpaper, which will hopefully be coming down in the near future.
