The view from the Nu'uanu Pali Lookout
The Byodo-In Temple
Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay--Unfortunately, we don't have any pictures of us actually snorkeling as we checked our camera into a locker while we were in the water. This picture shows a deceptively a peaceful, deserted beach. In truth, we only snorkeled for a short time as the beach was full and not accepting more visitors when we first tried to go there at around 10:00 am, so we came back at around 4:00. This picture was taken as the beach was closing at 5:00.
Walking along Waikiki early in the morning
And walking countless hours in search of the perfect way to end our trip on our last day
I also spent three of our days there attending a conference for international educators while Mike spent time in our hotel room trying to do homework (being enrolled in a distance master's program means that he can do his work anywhere, but he still needs to do his work).
Altogether we had a very nice trip, though in all honesty I must admit that neither of us felt Hawaii lived up to our expectations. Perhaps we would have felt different if we had visited a less busy island or if we had had a lot of extra money to blow, but both Mike and I felt a bit disappointed. That said, we were happy to go and would gladly go again given the right circumstances.
