Today, at least, we took advantage of beautiful sunshine and went for a hike at McDowell Creek Falls, nestled in the foothills of the Cascades about 45 minutes from home. It was beautiful in the winter--different from when I was last there as this time the deciduous trees were naked of leaves and abundant with moss, and the creek was overflowing (part of the trail had been overtaken by the creek). It was so invigorating to be out in the crisp air. We really need to make more time for outdoors pursuits in the winter as well as in the summer.
